Versatile Blogger Award

June 17, 2010

The talented Olive of Movie News First awarded me this VBA, as did Novroz of Novroz’ Favorite Things. It was originally intended for my second blog, Róisín Recommends, however I felt it would be more at home here on sundryandco.

There are a few simple rules for this award:

Thank the person who gave you the award, share seven things about yourself and then pass the award along to any blogger(s) of your choice.

Let me see…Seven interesting points about Róisín..:

1. Ranulph Fiennes asked me last weekend if there were many Róisíns in Ireland.

2. As a child, I had a great fascination with The Beatles, namely John Lennon.

3. I am an atheist.

4. I spend too much time dreaming of space travel, Antarctic adventures and film sets.

5. Last week I found an old certificate from an exam I had passed for, to my surprise, the “British Amateur Gymnastics Association”.

6. I have lived and worked in Dublin, Limerick and Cork in the past two years.

7. I unintentionally refused to shake David Puttnam’s hand in 2005.

I wish to give this award to the following bloggers for their entertaining reviews, rants and musings!

Ronan of Filmplicity

Kat of Kitty Kat Rants

Alexandria of Musings of a  Geologist Who Writes Paranormal Fiction

That’s hilarious about number 5, how random is that?!
And I cringe about number 7; it’s worthy of a separate blog post.
And I’m with you on 4, I dream about crazy things all the time, but maybe they are not so crazy?! You can join Ranulph on his next Antartic adventure:)

@Olive 😀 I should have entered the Olympics. As for no.7 – I don’t know what it is with me and handshakes – We just don’t gel well! Would you like to join me in my trek with Ranulph? You can pull the sleigh.

Yep, I’m a big fan of space adventures, though I imagine Antartica would likely feel quite… same-y after a while. I’d love to explore the dead sea. have you seen the things that live down there?

  4. June 18, 2010 10:26 am

@Darren I’ll be starting with the Edge of Space Flight from GreatDaysOut and then I’ll do a quick submersible expedition dive to the Titanic, before heading for a full-on trip to the moon.

The Dead Sea? Bacteria and scrolls. A winning combination by all accounts!

Just thought I’d pop over and say thanks again for the versatile blogger nod. As per our little business proposition 😉 it’s in the pipeline for this weekend. I’ll keep you updated via twitter and in comments. Working on my acceptance post at the mo, with England v. Algeria in the background. Talk about the battle of Algiers.

@Ronan You’re welcome – Looking forward to seeing Ronan Recommends! Oh, and I have 10 euro on Spain to win the World Cup 🙂

  7. June 19, 2010 3:13 am

Sundryandco and Roisin Recommends are both enjoyable blogs 🙂

Who is Ranulph Fiennes? is he related to ralph fiennes?

  8. June 19, 2010 1:12 pm

@Novroz Sir Ranulph Fiennes is a famous British explorer/frequent beard wearer.

That’s cool that you did Gymnastics Roisin, I did it too until I hit puberty and realised it was me and about 40 chicks. How do you unintentionally refuse to shake Lord David Putnam’s hand?

@ Roisin: Sorry, meant to say “deep sea”. Facepalm!

  10. June 24, 2010 12:24 pm

@Novroz He is a cousin of the two Fiennes. A third cousin, I believe!

@Ronan I have a bad history of handshaking incidents, Ronan 😦 They mainly involve accidental hand-stroking and misunderstandings.

@Darren My top creatures that I would like to encounter are the Grimpoteuthis (AKA Dumbo Octopus), the Blobfish (AKA Sad Face Man), and this: http://www.markhaywardismyhero.com/images/frillshark.jpg
The blobfish, I would like to remove from the sea and take home as a pet 🙂

I did a list similar to this, all facts about myself. Check it out here: http://dtmmr.wordpress.com/2010/06/26/7-facts-about-me/ Nice list!

    Hi
I want to thank you for this and it means a lot.

    1. I am a mental case woohoo!
    2. I want to move to Dublin or Cork
    3. Until this year I had no real qualifications (true story)
    4. When I grow up I want to be… Oh hold on I am but I still want to be a film editor
    5. I washed the hair of a guy from the belfast giants.
    6. I got excited about recieving the student of the year award voted by students
    7. My deepest secret – I used to love B*witched!

Well that’s 7 random things hehe

  13. July 7, 2010 8:56 pm

@Kat I love experimenting with film-editing too 🙂 I prefer Adobe Premiere Pro to Final Cut Pro. Well done on receiving the student of the year award! And you’d like to live in Cork or Dublin? If you are in Dublin, go to the Screen cinema when the “Classic Season” is on. All About Eve on the big screen is really amazing – Went to it twice when it was on there. I think Mahon Point here in Cork started a classic season this year too. I’d love to live in Belfast for a while, but I’ve yet to visit there.

  14. July 12, 2010 12:49 pm

That was great Roisin. I am still laughing. More detail on number 7 please!

  15. July 12, 2010 1:00 pm

@Ann I’m not sure it’d be healthy to relive it, Ann 😉 It makes me cringe almost as much as another blunder I made during handshaking. I will need to dedicate a whole post to the topic!

  16. July 14, 2010 2:03 pm

I’m still obsessed with The Beatles! They are one of the greatest bands of all time. How I love them.

    *le sigh*

I often dream of space and otherworldy locations or settings and somehow try to make them plausible possibilities in my head.

How did you unintentionally NOT shake his hand?

    • July 14, 2010 2:15 pm

I love them too. I love John and I love George and I love Ringo and…Paul, not so much.

I’m definitely walking on the moon, so you can hop into my spaceship. A cosmic carpool, if you will.

The unintentional non-handshake was as a result of shock and untimely pointing. Oh cringe, dear cringe.
